Independent Living & Design Team

The Independent Living & Design Team consists of Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistants, Sensory Rehabilitation Officers, Surveyors and Grants officers. The service works with children and adults providing specialist assessments and through the provision of adaptive equipment / simple rehab programs or adaptations, help people to be more independent in daily living tasks. Tasks vary considerably from being independent in bathing or preparing a meal to being able to safely get in and out of the home.

The Service also facilitates applications for Disabled Facilities Grants and provides a design service for disabled adaptations following work through to completion from assessment to adaptation provision e.g. bedroom/bathroom extensions. Occupational Therapists also provide a specialist manual handling assessment service for Knowsley residents with complex manual handling needs.
