Integrated Community Equipment Service (ICES)

The Integrated Community Equipment Service (ICES) provides, collects, maintains and decontaminates community loan equipment for residents across Knowsley.

Access to our service is by referral only from health care professionals eg: District Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists.

The community loan equipment is provided to support Knowsley residents of all ages and those registered with a Knowsley G.P. Any equipment, aids or products we supply help promote independent living and/or support nursing care in people’s homes.

Based at the Centre for Independent Living our ICES team provides a full range of aids and equipment which can assist local people with bathing, toileting, moving and handling, as well as medical equipment.

Our service also delivers the products and equipment directly to your home. We also provide installation and demonstrate it’s use to give you peace of mind.

ICES fully support the End of Life Care Pathway, where patients can choose to die at home, we provide additional, essential equipment and aids to support this.

We work behind the scenes to provide an essential logistics service across Knowsley which includes the delivery of NHS products, ordering and delivery of continence, sexual health and oral health promotion products, as well as the collection & delivery of internal mail. The logistics service also supports the School Immunisation Programme who provide immunisations to Knowsley school children.

The ICES service also includes the provision and supply of continence products for all patients/service users living in Knowsley or who have a Knowsley GP but live outside of the area, who have been assessed by professionals e.g. Nurse, Assistant Practitioner, Continence Nurse, District Nurse or Community Matron.
