Diabetes Support

Do you have diabetes or would you like to find out more about the condition? Knowsley residents are welcome to receive free friendly information and support about living with diabetes with St Helens & District Group of Diabetes UK.

The group provides support to people with diabetes as well as to their family and friends. The group also works to improve everyone’s understanding of diabetes, whether they are diabetic or not, and particularly to those who may be at risk of developing diabetes in the future.

The group is starting a new programme of meetings for the year ahead, where you will have the opportunity to ask questions, chat with others and enjoy the refreshments available.

On Wednesday 4 April 2018 at 7.30pm, you can meet Dr Stuart Bootle, a retired GP, workshop facilitator and person with diabetes for his subject ‘Diabetes, the NHS and me’.

On Wednesday 2 May 2018 at 7.30pm, Diabetes Nurse Consultant at St Helens Hospital, Jan Cardwell, will be at the meeting for a short Annual General Meeting which will be followed by a talk on the importance of diabetes patient education.

On Wednesday 6 June 2018 at 7.30pm, Professor Kevin Hardy, a Consultant Physician and Endocrinologist at St Helens Hospital will be finishing off the programme with a diabetes quiz to test how much you really know about your condition.

All of the meetings take place at St Helens United Reformed Church, King Street, St Helens WA10 1HP
