Knowsley is on the Map with Changing Places

Knowsley’s Centre for Independent Living (CIL) has a designated Changing Places facility.

Changing Places is a national campaign movement on behalf of 1/4 of a million people in the UK who cannot use standard accessible toilets. This includes people with profound and multiple learning disabilities, as well people with other physical disabilities such as spinal injuries, muscular dystrophy and multiple sclerosis often need extra equipment and space to allow them to use the toilets safely and comfortably.

The number of Changing Places facilities nationally is steadily growing.

Paula Thompson, chair of Knowsley’s User Led Organisation said “Our community is pleased to see that Knowsley’s Centre for Independent Living now has an official Changing Places facility.

We’d like to thank the team from Northwest Borough Healthcare Foundation for following up our suggestion to have this facility nationally recognised with Changing Places.

This facility is a small step to help make life a bit easier for local people and their carers who cannot access standard accessible toilets – may there be many more”.
