Discover More with Knowsley Libraries

When was the last time you visited your local library? If it’s been a while you may not realise just how much there is on offer for the whole family from Knowsley’s Library Service. It’s also free to join and all activities are free.

Situated in bright, modern, welcoming buildings there’s everything you might expect: books to borrow and order, reading groups and national reading initiatives for adults and children, learning opportunities, computers, the internet and information.

There’s also lots more: author talks; term-time and school holiday activities and events for children and families; adult groups providing a chance to meet and socialise with other people including Knit and Natter, Sewing Bees, Silver Club and Tea and Tech to name but a few.

All the branches hold regular family history and computer helpdesks; and you’ll find books, information and activities to support your health and wellbeing. Don’t forget that reading for pleasure is an important part of a healthy lifestyle!

There are targeted book collections, including Reading Well Books on Prescription, Mood-boosting books and Shelf help (for Young People), all endorsed by health professionals. You can even get help to give up smoking.

The free e-Books service offers a wide choice of titles to download and read on your computer or mobile device wherever you are.

You don’t even have to visit a library to join. You can register online by simply emailing yourlibrary@knowsley.gov.uk with your name, address and postcode. Knowsley Library Service will issue you with a membership number and PIN, which is all you need to start borrowing e-Books, or pop into a branch with proof of ID and address for full membership.

Cllr Shelley Powell, Cabinet Member for Public Health, Wellbeing and Customer Services said:

“Whatever your reason for visiting, for information, learning or leisure, you will find our libraries have something of interest for you. Anybody can become a member of the library, at any age, and it is free to join.

“All of our libraries offer a broad selection of stock and free computer use for library members. Our libraries also host regular events and courses for all ages. Simply drop into your local branch and have a chat with one of our friendly and experienced members of staff, or visit our website to find out what’s available.”

If you have trouble getting to your local library, the Home Delivery Service can come to you. Based on your own preferences, they can deliver fiction and non-fiction books (including large print), spoken word CDs and children’s books.

As a library member you can sign up for our email alerts service. We can email to let you know when your requested items are ready for collection, when your loans are due to be returned or have become overdue, and what’s going on in your local branch.

So what’s stopping you? Drop-by your local Knowsley library and discover what you’ve been missing!
